The Y.E.S. (Youth Expanding Service) Club promotes student participation for contributing and giving back to the community. Ms. Pennington is the sponsor here at Bush High School and is looking for members to join next year.

“I have a lot of members leaving because they’re seniors. The club is great organization to be a part of and looks great on a college application,” Ms. Pennington said.

The club’s members earn a cord once they reach 100 or more hours of community service and volunteering. The club’s meetings are every Thursday from 2:45 PM to around 3:30 PM. Some members have learned valuable characteristics while in the club.

“It has introduced me to community service, and has made me appreciate all the things I have and appreciate the fact that I can help others in need. It has also taught me to be responsible and cooperate with others because sometimes the services you have to do are in groups so you need to be able to communicate and work with others,” senior, Michael Rivera said.
