With the intention to win and qualify early in the year, the George Bush High School NJROTC Unit practices rigorously in preparation for the first Drill Meet of the year. The upcoming Drill Meet will take place on September 28 at Spring High School.

On that day, The President’s Own Varsity Team will compete in numerous categories such as Armed/Unarmed Drill,  Color Guard, Academics, and Physical Training. Additionally, they will be competing against many familiar high schools such as Austin and Clements. With less than a couple weeks left until the upcoming drill meet, the Varsity Team has been training consistently throughout each week and even on weekends in order to achieve their goal.

Moreover, the officers of the unit feel quite positive about the upcoming drill meet. “I feel confident in my team’s abilities and I’m excited to perform with them,” Kevin Jaramillo, the Armed Drill Team Commander, said.

With hope and ambition, they already have plenty of goals in mind for this year. “I want us to get first place in all the competitions and go to Navy Nationals. I want the males and females to be in peak physical condition. And I personally want to leave a legacy,” Dami Ladipo, the Physical Training Team Commander, said.
