Get Musical at a Musical! Aida Opens Tonight!
January 16, 2020
Three is known as a wish number and it is how many days the George Bush High School Theatre Troupe will be performing the musical, Aida. Today, January 16, is opening night for the musical. Tickets are $15 at the door for adults and $10 for students. The cast and tech have been working tirelessly since last semester.
“The memories that have been made doing the musical will stay with us for a long time, companionship and teamwork will impact us all,” Head of Makeup, Alyeska Romero, said.
Being put together in such a positive environment, the cast says that the musical will be an experience you wont want to miss. For the past two days, students have been out of their classes for dress rehearsals to prepare for opening night. With an incredible work ethic, they’ve been putting together the show for their peers.
“I’ve heard that the musical this year is really interesting and different from what they’ve produced in the past,” Senior, Mallerly Zarate, said.
Mrs. Miller has held rehearsals after school nearly every day, and they even had rehearsal over the winter break. The cast will post snippets of these rehearsals on their twitter page at @bush_theater as advertisement and the response is very positive.
“After ROTC practice I hear them singing, so I’m intrigued to go now,” Senior, Michelle Cardenas, said.
This is the last show of the year before UIL kicks off. Aida will play tonight and tomorrow night at 7 p.m. There are also two shows on Saturday, January 18, at 2 p.m. and one in the evening at 7 p.m.
